    Traore was a big part of Mali's second three-peat.

    ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - Maimouna Traoré was in the spotlight on the last day of the 2026 FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket tournament.

    The 17-year-old played a key role in Mali's victory over Nigeria in the Championship Game, scoring 18 points as the perennial champions prevailed 77–68 on Sunday in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

    Traoré was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and was joined in the All-Star Team by her Mali teammate Assan Mariko, as well as Hania Hassabelnaby of Egypt, Eveline Toyounon of Cameroon and Favour Anari of Nigeria.

    Conde Keita of Mali won the awards for leading scorer and best three-pointer, while Eveline Toyounon of Cameroon took home the award for best rebounder.

    Keita averaged 20 points per game, while Toyounon dominated the boards with 17 rebounds per game.

    Benin won the Fair Play Award at the 2026 FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket.
