TPE – Hawkins, Jennings set new marks in SBL

TAIPEI CITY (SBL) - Shawn Hawkins gave the bottom-ranked Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor (KKL) something to cheer about with his 63 points in Sunday’s game against Yulon, setting a new SBL single-game scoring record.

KKL, however, lost the game 116-106 in overtime.

Hawkins (pictured) shot 20 of 38 from the field, including eight of 16 from threee-point range and knocked down 15 of his of 18 free-throw attempts to break the previous record of 52 points set by Chen Hsin-an for Yulon in 2005. Chen now plays for DongGuan Leopards in the CBA in China.

Sunday’s other game also saw an individual single-game record being set by a player on a losing side.

Pure Youth lost against Taiwan Beer 76-75, but import Rashad Jennings grabbed 33 rebounds, setting a single-game rebounding mark in SBL history.
