Ulaanbaatar Amazons headline a deep field as Bangkok hosts another crucial FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop.

BANGKOK (Thailand) – The FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2026 heads to Thailand on August 22-23, with a loaded 16-team field set to battle for valuable Race to the Final points in Bangkok.

Leading the way are top seeds Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL), who arrive as one of the benchmark teams of the 2026 season. The Mongolian powerhouse has already captured two Women’s Series titles this year and sits atop the overall standings, with Khulan Onolbaatar once again leading the charge.

    Players to Watch

Onolbaatar is coming off a third-place finish at the most recent FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop in Singapore and remains one of the faces of the circuit this season. She will look to guide the Amazons back to the top of the proverbial podium in Bangkok, where they open Pool A against Kenya (KEN) and Slovenia (SLO).

Canada (CAN) enter as the No. 2 seed and will be looking to rediscover their winning form. The reigning FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Final 2025 champions have shown their quality throughout the season, with Paige Crozon coming off a fifth-place finish at the WS Tokyo stop. A strong showing from Crozon and Canada could put them in position to claim their second stop title of the season.

Canada face Australia (AUS) and Madagascar (MAD) in Pool B, setting up one of the weekend's most intriguing groups. Australia, seeded seventh, have already won two stops this season and will be led by Alex Wilson, who returned to 3x3 basketball action in Singapore as the Gangurrus finished sixth.

Third seeds China (CHN) also arrive with plenty of firepower. Yang Hengyu has been among the leading rebounders on the circuit this season, collecting 123 total rebounds, and will be looking to build on China's seventh-place finish at WS Singapore. China will begin their Bangkok campaign in Pool C alongside sixth seeds Mitsubishi Electric (JPN) and the winner of Qualifying Draw A.

Mitsubishi Electric have already shown how close they are to breaking through for a first FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series title. After finishing fifth in Singapore, the Japanese side will once again rely on Fuyuko Takahashi, who came close to lifting the winner's banner at the WS Tokyo stop earlier in August.

Germany (GER), seeded fourth, headline Pool D alongside host nation Thailand (THA) and the winner of Qualifying Draw B. Germany are eighth in the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2026 standings and remain in search of their first stop title of the season, making Bangkok another important opportunity to close the gap on the leading contenders.

Marie Reichert will be one to watch for the Germans after a disappointing 12th-place finish at WS Sea Breeze. The experienced forward and Paris 2024 gold medalist will be determined to help Germany bounce back and make a deep run.

Thailand, meanwhile, will have home support behind them as they look to turn familiarity into a breakthrough. Seeded fifth, the hosts are led by Supavadee Kunchuan, who is coming off a ninth-place finish in Singapore. Thailand will be chasing their first FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series title of the season, but face a difficult opening group alongside Germany and one of the qualifying teams.

The two remaining Main Draw spots will be decided through the Qualifying Draw, with Poland (POL), Brazil (BRA) and Croatia (CRO) competing for one ticket, while New Zealand (NZL), Singapore (SGP) and Chonburi (THA) battle for the other.

That makes the Qualifying Draw particularly significant, with Poland bringing the highest seed of the six teams. Brazil and Croatia will have to navigate a tough three-team group, while New Zealand, Singapore and home side Chonburi will also have their sights set on joining the Main Draw.

With the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026 just a few stops away, every point carries added importance. Bangkok is the 22nd stop of the expanded 2026 Women’s Series, with only WS Debrecen and WS Takasaki remaining before the season-ending tournament in Shanghai on September 5-6.

The Amazons will arrive as the team to beat, but with Canada, China, Germany, Thailand, Mitsubishi Electric and Australia all capable of making a deep run, Bangkok promises another wide-open battle on the road to Shanghai.
