The French legend has invited 18 players to a camp in the build-up to the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup in Istanbul. The Lyon gathering will be the first time Parker coaches the team.

PARIS (France) - Tony Parker will have an 18-strong preliminary squad at a three-day training camp in Lyon next month as part of the preparations for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup in Istanbul (June 27 to July 5).

The camp, according to the French Basketball Federation, will run from May 11-13 and it marks the first time that Parker will coach one of the French national teams.

Eight of the players that came in fifth at the 2025 FIBA U16 EuroBasket are in the preliminary squad, including Aaron Towo-Nansi of Cholet Basket and Nathan Soliman of Nantes Hermine.

Parker, the EuroBasket 2013 MVP and four-time NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs, dazzled on the court in numerous games with France's youth teams before he shot to fame with Les Bleus and competed at EuroBaskets and Olympic Games.

One of the youth tournaments he played in was the 2000 European Championship for Junior Men, which the French won.

Parker will reunited with his U17 team on June 1 and have it step up its preparations.

Shortly thereafter, he will finalize the roster for the big event in Türkiye.
