    BANGKOK (World University Games) - Serbia, Russian Federation, Germany, Turkey and Israel all won their final games in the preliminary stages of the men's competition at the 24th Universiade in Bangkok to top their respective group tables.

    Serbia finished at the summit of Group D after a convincing 95-75 win over Mexico maintained their 100% record.

    Aleksandar Kesar's side dominated the clash from the start, racing into a 49-34 lead at the mid-game interval, before securing a 20-point winning margin.

    Russian Federation finished on a maximum of four points to top Group E courtesy of a 78-67 victory over Chinese Taipei.

    Germany and Turkey also progressed into the second phase after winning their games over Kazakhstan and South Africa respectively.

    The impressive German side romped to an 89-49 victory, while a 20-point haul from Ceh Coskun inspired Turkey to a comprehensive 76-51 win.

    Israel, meanwhile, also booked their place in the next round with a 74-62 win over Australia.

    Elsewhere, New Zealand wracked up an amazing 45 points in the final period against Thailand to register a highly impressive 108-73 triumph over Thailand.

    United States brushed aside a disappointing Angola 84-26 in Group B and Ukraine come from behind to beat Brazil 78-59.
