    BANGKOK (World University Games Women) - China and Mozambique maintained their stronghold on the top of their respective groups with wins in the latest round of fixtures in the women's competition second phase at the 24th Universiade in Bangkok on Monday.

    In Group G, hosts Thailand came unstuck as Zhang Yu's 19 points sent the Chinese to a narrow 69-61 win.

    However, the game was won in the opening two quarters when the visitors raced to a 44-27 lead, before the Thai's tried to claw their way back.

    After two games, Kim Jae Woong's team stay bottom of the group, behind Latvia, who lost 68-47 to Serbia.

    The top of Group H produced a much tighter affair as Alexandre Mata's girls edged Japan 79-76.

    Aleia Rachide led the Africans with her 23 points as Mozambique stayed top of the group.

    Finally, Brazil stayed third despite a massive 80-50 win over Korea.

    Renata Oliveira led the charge for the Brazilians with a whopping 31 points.
