Teams set for the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers

    MIAMI (United States) – The Second Round field for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers is now complete, with 12 national teams remaining in contention for a place in FIBA’s flagship event. Chile, Bahamas, Puerto Rico on Monday, and Colombia on Wednesday, became the last teams to secure their tickets to the next phase as the First Round comes to an end after this July window. United States, the No. 1 team in the FIBA World Ranking, presented by Nike, headlines the list of qualified teams, while 11 teams return to the Second Round after also reaching this stage in the previous qualifying cycle. Meanwhile, Chile made history by advancing to the Second Round for the first time. The list of qualified teams (in alphabetical order) is as follows: Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, USA. The four teams eliminated in the First Round of the Americas Qualifiers will enter the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round. The Qualifiers will now continue with two groups of six teams, with all results from the First Round carrying over into the next phase. The teams from Groups A and C will form Group E, while the teams from Groups B and D will make up Group F.

    Group E: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, USA. Group F: Argentina, Bahamas, Canada, Panama, Puerto Rico, Uruguay.

    The Second Round will be played across three windows in August 2026, November 2026, and February 2027. The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, will qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, giving the Americas a total of seven qualifying teams. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will take place from August 27 to September 12, 2027, in Qatar.
