BRATISLAVA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Sweden booked their place in the quarter finals of the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women with a comprehensive 70-49 victory over Canada.
Sweden profited from an emphatic opening half to the clash, which saw them take a 16-point lead going into the mid-game interval.
And they proved to be too strong for their North American opponents during the closing stages as a 12-point haul from Stefanie Yderstrom and a further 11 points each from Frida and Elin Eldebrink sealed the win.
The result means Canada are now out of the tournament having lost all three eighth-finals games.
The Scandinavian side started the clash in blistering fashion and raced into a 20-11 lead by the end of the opening period.
And their advantage was extended further as some solid defending from the Group F high-flyers handed them a massive 42-26 lead by the break.
Sweden eased off the gas in the third quarter, but still managed to extend their lead further before wrapping up the game by a massive 21-point winning margin.
