    Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador and Argentina celebrate wins on opening day

    AYSEN (FIBA U16 Americas Women’s Championship 2019) – The National Teams of Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador and Argentina achieved victories on Day 1 of the South American U15 Championship 2018.

    AYSEN (FIBA U16 Americas Women’s Championship 2019) – The National Teams of Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador and Argentina achieved victories on Day 1 of the South American U15 Championship 2018.

    Uruguay claimed a 71-64 win over Colombia in Group B action. Uruguay took over the leaderboard and never looked back. Josefina Zeballos led the scoring for the Uruguayan squad with 18 points. Meanwhile, Julieth Rivera was the top scorer for Colombia with 15 points.

    Group A of the South American U15 Championship jumped into action when Brazil celebrated a 68-59 win over Paraguay. Brazil captured a comfortable lead on the scoreboard during the second quarter and never let go of the favorable difference. Brenda Silva was the top performer for the Brazilians with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

    Ecuador debuted in the South American U15 Championship with a 70-44 win over Venezuela. Ecuador dominated from the get-go with a 17-10 first quarter and headed to the victory. Paulina Vaicekauskas was the top scorer for the Ecuadorians with a 12-point and 12-rebound “double-double”.

    Argentina put a stain in Chile’s debut with a 60-50 win. Entering the last ten minutes of the game, Argentina had a one-point lead. The team coached by Laura Cors produced a 22-13 quarter to claim the impressive win over the host of the South American U15 Championship. Nicole Caumo was the top performer for the Argentinians with 16 points.

    Day 2 of the South American U15 Women’s Championship will feature Venezuela vs Brazil, Paraguay vs Ecuador, Colombia vs Argentina and Chile vs Uruguay.
