Successful YDP Virtual Session with 26 National Federations
MIAMI (United States) - the Americas Regional Office was honored to bring to life this past Saturday a new and innovative program under the FIBA Youth Development Program (YDP) called "Live session."
MIAMI (United States) - After a tough 18 months where we faced the pandemic, the Americas Regional Office was honored to bring to life this past Saturday a new and innovative program under the FIBA Youth Development Program (YDP) called "Live session."
Skills Coach, Alain Laroche conducted a live skills and drills training session (Ball Handling/ Footwork & Balance/ Change of Pace) from the Miami FIBA office that included, 128 players both (U16 boys and girls) who attend from the comfort of their own homes.
"Developing youth basketball is an integral part of the strategy for FIBA, globally. In the Americas, this strategy comes to life through the Youth Development Program (YDP) which was created two years ago with the goal of A) Identifying the elite young starts, boys and girls, across our zone and B) structuring youth programs in partnership with all our NFs to build a common grassroot framework for development," said the Executive Director of FIBA in the Americas, Carlos Alves.
The 26 federations that participated were: Honduras, Chile, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, Cayman Islands, Haiti, St. Lucia, Colombia, Suriname, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Uruguay, Brazil, Grenada, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Nicaragua, Guyana, Guatemala, El Salvador, USA.
