Successful conclusion of administrative workshop in Damascus
DAMASCUS (Syria) – The FIBA Regional Office Asia successfully concluded a two-day administrative workshop in Damascus, Syria on Friday.
DAMASCUS (Syria) – The FIBA Regional Office Asia successfully concluded a two-day administrative workshop in Damascus, Syria on Friday with participation of 35 administrators holding responsibilities in running the affairs of Syrian Basketball Federation.
The workshop is part of the Regional Office’s continuous efforts to develop the administrative structure of the national federations, and to define the means for generating a sustainable strategic plan to improve their productivity.
Syrian Olympic Committee president Dr. Firas Mouala officially tipped-off the two-day workshop that took place in the NOC offices in Damascus.
“The Syrian Arab Basketball Federation initiated direct communication with the Regional Office to help activate the role of its administrative staff, said Syrian Arab Basketball Federation president Mr. Alaa Joukhaji
"The Regional Office immediately accepted our request and successfully organized this two-day workshop,” he added.
“The content of the presentations was rich, and included ideas that will help us keep pace with the development of modern basketball.”

“Our visit to Damascus aimed to coordinate with SYBF the plans for future cooperation in accelerating the progress of the game after 10 years of hard times that the country faced.” said FIBA Executive Director Asia, Mr. Hagop Khajirian.
“Syria has a rich basketball culture, that's not a secret. Our goal is to create solid but shorter routes for bringing back Syrian basketball to the podiums it deserves, and used to be.” He stated.
With the Group E continental qualifiers’ games in Amman coming up in less than a month, Syria will be hoping for an automatic qualification to FIBA Asia Cup 2021.
The Regional Office’s visit to Damascus was also an opportunity for the national federation to unveil its new emblem inspired by the elements of the National Olympic committee logo.
