BELGRADE (Serbian basketball championship) - Vojvodina extended their unbeaten run in the preliminary stage of the Serbian championship after a 80-76 comeback win against local rivals Sloga.
Vojvodina conspired to miss an amazing 27 three-pointers against their second-placed opposition and trailed with four minutes to go thanks to 22 points from Milos Bojovic.
But Velimir Gasic’s men didn’t allow their opponents to score in the crucial final minute of the game, and three free-throws from Vladimir Golubovic earned them victory.
Captain Ivan Ivanovic poured in 19 points for victorious Vojvodina.
Gasic said: "As we expected, Sloga played extremely well.
“But we have almost helped them to defeat us because of our poor 3-of-30 shooting from behind the arc."
Third-placed Mega Ishrana also slipped up, missing out on the chance to edge into second spot after a 88-75 defeat to struggling Beograd.
Beograd guard Nenad Stefanovic poured in 34 points in just 33 minutes on court to lift his side to third from bottom.
Another surprise saw Ergonom, rock-bottom before this round of fixtures, beat fourth-placed Novi Sad 81-71.
This allowed Radnicki to move alongside Novi Sad in the Superleague qualification places after their 98-93 win over Borac.
Elsewhere, Zdravlje beat 77-70, and Masinac saw off new bottom side Napredak 75-60.
