BELGRADE (Kosarkaska Liga Srbije) - Partizan Belgrade sealed their ninth consecutive domestic league crown as Hemofarm decided to forfeit following the massive brawl that marred Game 2 of the best-of-five final series.
Partizan won Game 1 at home, 67-60. They won Game 2 86-81 but with an unusual ending, as the final minute was played in a three-on-three format after 18 of 24 total players were ejected.
With Hemofarm leading 78-77, a battle for position under the boards turned ugly as Partizan's Aleks Maric lost his cool with Rasko Katic of Hemofarm and brought him to the floor.
The latter threw a forearm at Maric. Hemofarm's Slovenian international Goran Jagodnik and Partizan's Czech international both tried to play peacemakers but the melee only got worse, with other players getting involved.
After a lengthy delay, play resumed, but the officials had ejected nine players from each team, leaving just three on each to play the final minute.
Hemofarm decided against playing and after not appearing on the court on Sunday, Game 3 ended with an official score of 20-0 in Partizan's favour, to complete a 3-0 sweep of the series.
Dusko Vujosevic's side clinched its ninth domestic league title in a row, which comes after a domestic cup triumph, winning the Adriatic League and reaching the Euroleague Final Four.
