BELGRADE (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Serbian basketball fans have enjoyed a renaissance under Dusan Ivkovic the past couple of years.

Having led the youngest side at EuroBasket 2009 to an unexpected silver medal, Ivkovic was planning on his swan song being at the London Games in 2012.

Now it may come much sooner because Ivkovic has been appointed coach of Olympiacos for the second time in his career.

Ivkovic will lead the national team this summer and it's unclear if he will retain the reins or focus exclusively on coaching Olympiacos.

Before his appointment at Olympiacos was confirmed by the club, Ivkovic said of coaching Serbia: "My greatest obligation is an obligation to the players that I have, since I took over this function, training and selecting, so that the conduct of the Serbian national team at the World Championship in Turkey is not in question.

"It's for me a moral obligation."

The Reds parted with former Greece national team boss Panagiotis Yannakis after this season.

In his new job at Olympiacos, lvkovic will coach Serbia national team point guard Milos Teodosic - the Euroleague Player of the Year.
