NOVI SAD (FIBA U19 World Championship) - Serbia stormed back from a first-quarter deficit to claim a 78-61 win over China in their FIBA U19 World Championship opener on Thursday.

Mladen Jeremic inspired the victors with 25 points, while Boban Marjanovic and Miroslav
Raduljica also made double figures by contributing 16 and 12 respectively.

Wei Su paced China with 14 points, with Yong Xu and Yuchen Tian managing 12 points apiece for the Asians.

The hosts were ahead for most of the first quarter, but found themselves trailing 19-17 at the 10-minute mark.

Shortly into the second period, however, a Dusan Katnic lay-up put Serbia ahead and they never relinquished the lead.

Miroslav Nikolic's side seized control from that point and ended the first half 41-27 up.

China failed to bridge the gap in the remainder of the match as Serbia pulled further clear to start their campaign in the best possible style.
