MADRID (EUROBASKET Women 2015) - EuroBasket Women 2015 favourites Spain came out on top of the Santander Tournament over the weekend and also waved goodbye to Miram Foraste and Belen Arrojo.

Spain head coach Lucas Mondelo now has just three more cuts to make ahead of the Final Round after opting to release Foraste and Arrojo - but accompanied with words of encouragement.

"Foraste and Arrojo are two players who are being taken into account for the future of the national team," he said.

"This summer we have gone a step further and they have debuted in a competitive match [after previous calls to the camp last year].

"They have helped a lot and they will be ready in case they have to re-join if there are any unforeseen circumstances.

"They have willingness and work ethic - both must continue working to improve every day and enjoy their minutes in the Spanish league that helps them to grow as players," added Mondelo.

Spain went unbeaten in Santander as they overcame Russia 61-49 to add to their previous wins over Greece and Turkey.

Astou Ndour continued her rich vein of form with another double-double after amassing 18 points and 10 boards, while Turkey took second place after sliding to a 64-60 victory against Greece.

Spain preliminary squad for EuroBasket Women 2015: Queralt Casas, Anna Cruz, Silvia Dominguez, Laura Gil, Laura Herrera, Sancho Lyttle, Nuria Martinez, Astou Ndour, Laura Nicholls, Laia Palau, Lucila Pascua, Leticia Romero, Leonor Rodriguez, Alba Torrens, Marta Xargay.
