"To play basketball you just need a ball and a basket," he says.

Felipe Reyes, current world champion, ACB league champion and European runner-up, spoke of TRIBASKET, the FEB initiative that will kick off this March in collaboration with the autonomous federations. "There are a lot of ways to play basketball, and the rules can be changed to adapt to the number of participants.

TRIBASKET will be a very fun competition because it’ll let the younger players demonstrate their skills without having to play in a 5 on 5 game," affirmed Reyes. The center from Cordoba said that, "The 3 on 3,
2 on 2, and 1 on 1 games are fun and spectacular. They help you to play in different situations and develop skills that are fundamental for 5 on 5 play."

TRIBASKET consists of three categories: SHOOTING (free throws, two and three-point shots, SKILLS (ball
    handling) and PLAY (1 on 1, 2 on 2, and 3 on 3).

These are all different ways to play and have fun, because, as Felipe Reyes says, "To play basketball you just need a ball and a hoop." TRIBASKET is a new competition directed at kids who are 11-18 years old, and is sponsored by Carrefour, Central Lechera Asturiana, Ono and Marca. All who wish to participate can sign up at the FEB web site, www.clubfeb.es before March 25th.

Alex Mumbrú: "TRIBASKET will get more people to play basketball"
Alex Mumbrú, Real Madrid forward who also plays internationally, was decidedly interested in TRIBASKET, the FEB initiative which begins in March for kids who are 11-18 years old. "I think it’s a really good project to get a lot more people to play basketball and compete."

"You can’t always get nine friends together to play a game of basketball, and TRIBASKET seems like a very good initiative to get a lot more people to play basketball and compete, " affirmed Alex Mumbrú upon learning about TRIBASKET, the initiative which combines shooting and skills contests with half court games. Mumbrú, a player that has been present at the last two biggest events in Spanish basketball, the world games in Japan, and the 2007 EuroBasket, "One should never stop working on the basics like shooting, passing, and ball handling in order to become a well rounded player at any position." TRIBASKET will be played according to the rules published by FIBA, with 33-point games, 14 ball possessions and three players per team. The rules have been made official, and will be the guidelines for national and international tournaments. "I like the fact that the new FIBA rules will be used in TRIBASKET because they favor spectacular plays and fast paced games, " added Mumbrú. TRIBASKET is a new competition directed at kids who are 11-18 years old, and is sponsored by Carrefour, Central Lechera Asturiana, Ono and Marca.
All who wish to participate can sign up at the FEB web site, www.clubfeb.es before March 25th.

Elisa Aguilar: "3 on 3 is the essence of basketball"
The captain of Spain’s national team, and of the Ros Casares team, Elisa Aguilar, confesses that, "In summer I loved to play a little 3 on 3. It’s more fun and dynamic. It’s the essence of basketball." That’s why the guard from Madrid is convinced that TRIBASKET, "Is a great idea."

She’s used to winning titles. In the last few years she’s won league titles, cups and super sups, and medals from continental tournaments, as the captain and headlining guard of the Ciudad Ros Casares team and of Spain’s national team. Nevertheless, she confesses that, "In summer I loved to play a little 3 on 3. It’s more fun and dynamic. It’s the essence of basketball." Elisa Aguilar recognizes that, "Elite basketball is more restricted, and uses more strategy, yet 3 on 3 excites fans, is freer and makes it easier to demonstrate technical quality and talent."
Therefore, she thinks that TRIBASKET is, "A great idea. Bringing basketball to youth and obtaining more fans is always excellent, and the Federation is doing a great job in this respect. What’s more, success at the top is conditioned by a base, by the work done beforehand."
