    Spain - The EuroBasket final game was the most seen program in September

    Beating out Fernando Alonso's car racing and the debut of the Real Madrid soccer team in the Champions’ League, the EuroBasket 2007 final game between Spain and Russia was the most seen T.V. program in Spain in the month of September, with 5,372,000 spectators and 31.3% of the television audience, making it the most seen basketball game of all time. This historic fact led the laSexta channel to increase its average to 5.5, 1.8 points more than in the month of August.

This historic fact led the laSexta channel to increase its average to 5.5, 1.8 points more than in the month of August.

    The three most seen television programs of this month were of an athletic nature, a scenario which is becoming more and more common. The third place went to the debut of the Real Madrid soccer team in the Champions’ League. Their face off against the Werder Bremen team seen on the Antena 3 channel had 5,294,000 spectators. The second place went to the Belgium’s Grand Prize Formula 1 Car Race, with 5,331,000 spectators watching the Telecinco channel. To finish things off, the leader of the entire month was the EuroBasket final which on September 16th had 5,372,000 spectators an average of 31,3 % of all televisions, according the Sofres statistics.
    The Spain vs. Russia game had an accumulated audience of more than 10 million (10,659,000) spectators.

    What’s more, the most seen minute of television on Sunday was at 9.18 p.m., when the game had 7,253,000 spectators, more than 41.8 percent of all viewers. It also should be noted that 350,000 followed the game on the internet. EuroBasket 2007 has been a huge success for laSexta during September. In this month the channel achieved a historical 5.5% rating, surpassing by the statistics of August (3.7%) by 1.8 points.
