LJUBLJANA (FIBA World Championship) - Slovenia coach Memi Becirovic has announced two cuts from his squad for the FIBA World Championship following their successful Stankovic Continental Cup campaign.

Slovenia beat Australia 71-60 in the final of the tournament in China this weekend to make a big statement as they continue their preparations for Turkey.

But the tournament also marked the end of the road this summer for Matej Krusic and Sandi Cebular as Becirovic cut his squad to 14.

Becirovic thanked the pair for their efforts, and told them they would get a chance to make the squad for the EuroBasket next year.

"The tournament in China was the first real test for the players," Becirovic said. "Sandi Cebular and Matej Krusic showed they were good and hard working, but unfortunately the team is such that they cannot all be in it so I had to make this decision.

"I talked to both and they accepted by decision. Hopefully they can be part of the next campaign."

Becirovic will now gather his squad in Ljubljana for further training on Wednesday before they head to Vitorio for a warm-up tournament involving Lithuania and Spain.
