Four talents won the She Calls Game contest a few months ago. Now, they lived the dream at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Berlin.

BERLIN (Germany) - In April, FIBA announced the winners of She Calls Game 2026. Now, the initiative has become a reality for four young talents, who have spent the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin gaining hands-on experience in sports media.

“This is a life-changing experience,” said Sindiswa Mabunda, who has worked as a writer for the FIBA Editorial team, producing content for the event website.

The feeling is likely shared by the other three winners: Maia Williamson, who worked as a commentator; Lara Zugck, a video content producer; and Katarina Puskasova, a photographer.

Strengthening FIBA’s position as a leader in empowering women in sports media, and supporting its strategic priority of Women in Basketball, the latest edition of She Calls Game aims to inspire creative storytelling and authentic, user-driven content to help grow the sport.

The program was first introduced at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022. The 2026 edition reflects FIBA’s commitment to creating more opportunities for aspiring women in sports media from around the world, with four roles available this year and winners selected from New Zealand, South Africa, Germany and Slovakia.

There is a strong chance that some of the content you enjoyed and engaged with across different FIBA channels and platforms was created by these young talents.

For Maia, one of the highlights was commentating on a USA game. Her advice to anyone looking to follow a similar path is simple: “Do your thing.”

For these four young women, after taking in what they've learned in Berlin, the real game is only just beginning.
