ANTANANARIVO (21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women) – Rwanda end their race in the 21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women as the only country without a win in group-B that comprises defending champion, Mali, Nigeria, Angola and Cote d’Ivoire whom they lost to Wednesday by 64-60 points.

Rwandan Tatun Brown double double of 23 points and 13 rebound was not enough to save her side from defeat as the Ivorians powered on in their quest to make a statement at the 2009 Afrobasket just as their men did in Libya during the men championship.

The Ivorians picked the first three quarters by 18-10, 12-11, 18-16 points leaving the Rwandans to pick the last quarter by 23-16 points.

Brown fellow Rwandan, Takisha Grandberry had 18 points.

Cote d’Ivoire wonder-kid, kani Kouyate continued her foray with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist while Salimata Berte also had 17 points and 8 rebounds.
