Russia - Another Russian may join Kirilenko in NBA

CSKA Moscow center Aleksandr Kaun may become a member of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers as early as this summer. Kaun’s three-year contract with the Army Men expires in 2011, but it contains a clause enabling him to leave for the NBA. "Cleveland was interested in me earlier. They called me for the entire last season. It is a usual practice with the drafted players,” the 21-year-old told Sport-Express newspaper.

Kaun was drafted 56th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. His draft rights were then traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

”I couldn’t leave last summer, but I can do it this year. And that’s why their interest rose. However I am focused on the games for CSKA at the moment," the center said.

One of Russia’s brightest basketball young talents is currently fighting for a place in the final four of the Euroleague together with his CSKA teammates.

"I will consider all the pros and cons before making any decision. I need a good team to play with, and possibilities to develop. Of course it is a dream of any player to perform in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean I am going to accept just any terms," Kaun said.

There’s only one Russian playing in the NBA for the moment. Andrey Kirilenko has been among the biggest stars of Utah Jazz after joining the team from CSKA back in 2001.
