MOSCOW (Euroleague) - Antonis Fotsis rewrote the record books as Dynamo Moscow rubbed salt into Benetton Treviso's wounds with a 68-65 win.
Fotsis poured in 22 points and grabbed a record 24 rebounds as the Russians overpowered the Italians in overtime to end their hopes of reaching the last eight.
Treviso had been rocked before the tip-off by a 12-point deduction for signing an ineligible player in Italy's Lega A championship.
At first, they looked unaffected as they led 35-23 at the halfway point. However, Dynamo took the third quarter 20-8 to level the scores at the end of the third and with the scores still tied at the end of regulation time, overtime was needed.
Eddie Gill drained a three-pointer 25 seconds from the end of the extra period and then pulled off a steal to deny Benetton the chance to level things up.
Fotsis beat the previous record of 23 rebounds in a Euroleague game set by Mirsad Turkcan in his CSKA Moscow days back in 2002.
Dynamo qualify alongside Unicaja Malaga who lost their last game 83-65 to Aris TT Bank.
Marcus Faison top scored with 18 points for the losers with Daniel Santiago adding 13 but five Aris players made double digit contributions.
In Group F, Winterthur Barcelona and Panathinaikos both progress with the Spanish side beating the Greeks 87-66.
Dejan Tomasevic poured in 18 for Pana while Francisco Vazquez, with 14 points, was the best of five Barca men to finish with double digit hauls.
Efes Pilsen finished off with a 72-64 win over Prokom on the back of 23 points from Antonio Granger.
