RUS - CSKA stage comeback win

ISTANBUL (Euroleague) - Euroleague champions CSKA Moscow came from behind to enjoy a memorable 74-64 away win over Fenerbahce Ulker in Group C on Wednesday night.

The hosts looked good in the opening two quarters and held a 37-31 advantage at half-time.

But CSKA responded in magnificent style after the interval, taking the third quarter 20-10 and then stretching their lead in the final quarter.

Matjaz Smodis poured in a season-high 21 points for the victors, with Theodoros Papaloukas also making a valuable contribution of 15 as CSKA secured a fourth successive win.

In Group A, Prokom Trefl Sopot triumphed 91-77 over Climamio Bologna thanks to an amazing last-quarter 28-11 showing.

Adam Wojcik was the main man for Prokom with a 20-point haul as Climamio slipped to their sixth defeat in seven games.

TAU Ceramica survived a late fightback in France to prevail 79-76 over Le Mans.

Tau, who had a 100% record from the charity stripe, were 66-56 up at the end of the third quarter but allowed the hosts back into the match in the final segment.

Luis Scola paced the winners with 17 points, while Kenny Gregory and Sandro Nicevic poured in a game-high 18 points apiece but it was not quite enough for the French outfit.

Olympiacos enjoyed an 88-81 win over RheinEnergie Koln in Germany.

The Greek side were 72-61 up at the end of the third quarter and, although RheinEnergie took the final 10 minutes 20-16, the deficit was too great.

James Penn was the star for the victors with 22 points, and was ably supported by Alex Acker, Andrija Zizic and Ioannis Bourousis, who contributed 16 points each.

Finally, in Group B, Unicaja beat Partizan Belgrade 66-58 thanks to 15 points from Bernardo Rodriguez and 12 apiece from Konstantinos Vasiliadis, Carlos Cabezas and Carlos Jimenez.

Vonteego Cummings’ game-high 16 points was not enough for the visitors.
