MOSCOW (Euroleague/PBL) – Further examinations of the injuries suffered by Andrei Kirilenko in Saturday night’s game at Krasnye Krylia in Samara have confirmed the Russia international will miss this week’s games and possibly more.

The forward was hit in the face by an accidental elbow and suffered a broken nose, and a cut on the left brow.

He also hurt his left shoulder.

“Our forward Andrei Kirilenko passed the medical examination in GMS Clinic in Moscow,” a CSKA statement said.

“The MRI revealed the bruises of left shoulder muscles.

“In the doctors’ opinion, it should not affect the player’s rehabilitation terms needed to heal his broken nose.

“Kirilenko will definitely miss both CSKA games this week – with Zalgiris in the Euroleague and UNICS in the BEKO PBL.

“Andrei’s prospects will be estimated by doctors based on his rehab progress.

“Let us repeat that after the fall during the Krasnye Krylia – CSKA game, the player had the bones in his nose repositioned and his left brow stitched.”

Kirilenko owns the highest ranking of all Euroleague players four games into the season and has twice been named Player of the Week.

He will represent Russia next year at the 12-team FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament from July 2 to 8.

Kirilenko was voted to the all-tournament team at EuroBasket 2011 after leading Russia to the bronze medal.
