ZAGREB/PARIS (EuroBasket Women 2015) - Croatia have been dealt a major blow to their EuroBasket Women 2015 hopes after center Marija Rezan was ruled out with a knee problem, while injury has also curtailed the hopes of French shooter Johanne Gomis.
Tipped to have been one of the biggest stars in the paint at the 20-team tournament in Hungary and Romania (11-28 June), a scan has revealed a cartilage issue for Rezan who has been told she must now rest for four-six weeks.
The CB Avenida star has enjoyed a terrific season in EuroLeague Women and has is an instrumental figure on the Croatian roster, having been an integral part of the rotation since 2012.
The other change sees shooting guard Matea Vrdoljak return to the candidate list, while new naturalised player Shavonte Zellous will hook up with her new team-mates later in the month.
Meanwhile, Gomis was always struggling with an injury during the French camp and having arrived with question marks over her ankle, the Villeneuve D'Ascq player was unable to gain the necessary fitness to continue.
She has left the Lyon base and will now look to let the injury heal further.
Recent Championship winners Sandrine Gruda and Isabelle Yacoubou are both heading in the opposite direction and joining up with the Les Bleues squad after completing their respective club duties with UMMC Ekaterinburg and Beretta Famila Schio.
