BRASILIA (Brazil) - After ending their title drought in style earlier this month, confident Partizan (SRB) will swagger into the FIBA 3x3 Brasilia Challenger on September 13-14.
Let's preview the 13th Challenger of the season as the pro circuit journeys to South America. The Favorites
No.4 Partizan are back in town after ending their form slump with victory at the Sansar Challenger, where superstar Stefan Milivojevic flexed as 3x3's Gladiator.
But they can't be complacent and will need to continue their hot form because this is a murderer's row of talent highlighted by powerhouse Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU). The No.2 seed have an afterglow with three of their players part of Lithuania's spectacular Europe Cup triumph.
Top seed Amsterdam Rabobank (NED) have endured a topsy turvy season, but did finally break their title hoodoo recently in Taipei. They'll look to superstar Worthy de Jong to be the hype man as the reigning WT champs aim to strike in the backend of the season.
Like Partizan, Riffa (BRN) might be rediscovering their old magic in the nick of time after reaching the semis in Sansar, where two-way superstar Dennis Donkor was an absolute menace. They will now look for that elusive title to really get them rolling.
The Field
In what is a shocking stat, fan favorite Lausanne (SUI) have not gotten further than the quarters in eight - yes, eight! - events this season. That's a total underachievement for such a talented team led by Spain's World Cup hero Carlos Martinez.
Lausanne will be looking to make a statement and so too London (USA), who will surely play an exciting brand especially when high-flyer Justin Pierce takes the aerial route.
Don't take your eyes off Barcelona (ESP) and Marbella (ESP), both boasting World Cup champs and they just can't be underestimated.
There are a slew of Brazilian teams in the QD looking to go on giant-killing runs, while Brooklyn (USA) loom as a threat if they can leap into the main draw.
