PARIS (France) - Canyon Barry continued his heat check to power a shorthanded USA past China 21-17 on day four of the 3x3 men's competition at the Paris Olympics.
After his explosion against France, where he scored an unbelievable 16 points to stun the home crowd, Barry continued his heater with 14 points as a three-man USA once again defied the odds without injured superstar Jimmer Fredette.
USA are currently in fifth position and can lock-up a play-in position with victory over the Netherlands on day five. China are on the brink of elimination with just one win to sit in last place.
Barry opened the scoring and he also splashed a two-piece to score 5 of his team's first 6 points, but lacked support as China kept pace.
Young gun Jiaren Zhao was doing his best to duel with Barry as he also scored 5 early points in a fast-flowing game to close out day four.
Ning Zhang gave him support as he unleashed several trademark drives to pump up his team.
But Barry was everywhere, flying around the court as he spectacularly blocked Zhao's attempted dunk in an emphatic rejection.
Barry quickly registered another double digit scoring tally, but he couldn't do it alone as Dylan Travis splashed a two to give USA the edge.
China kept fighting but Barry was unconscious and he iced the game with a long bomb to cap off a day he will never forget.
Key Player: You know who we're going with. Barry wasn't just the best player in this game but the standout on day four. He produced a one-two punch for the ages. The son of NBA legend Rick Barry is making a name for himself on the biggest of stages and he's not done yet in Paris.
