LYON-VILLEURBANNE (France) - France have booked their place at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 after Nigeria and Korea defeated Philippines and Colombia.
Thanks to their two very convincing wins in the first two games, Les Bleues have already punched their ticket to FIBA’s flagship women’s basketball event. The Philippines and Colombia, now both 0–3, cannot catch France, which is already 2–0 against those two teams.
France are the first team to secure their place via the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments. They will join host nation Germany, along with 2025 Continental champions Australia, Belgium, Nigeria and USA at the main event in September.

Qualifiers Heroes
Dominique Malonga has only played two games in the tournament because of a head injury, but she did not need more time to make an impact on her team’s qualification.
With 21 points, 9 rebounds and the first-ever dunk by a player from the France senior national team, it was clearly a night to remember.
Against Colombia, another very promising prospect, Leila Lacan, posted 16 points and 3 assists to lead the team.
