WUHAN (China) - China have secured their spot at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 after Brazil defeated Mali in the first matchup of Gameday 4 in Wuhan.
Thanks to their two dominant wins against Mali and South Sudan and before facing Czechia and Brazil in their remaining games, China's ticket to FIBA's flagship women’s basketball event has been punched.
China are the first team to secure their place via the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament in Wuhan. They will join host nation Germany, 2025 Continental champions Australia, Belgium, Nigeria and USA - as well as France and Spain at the main event in September.

Qualifiers Heroes
Rising star Ziyu Zhang has been one of the leaders of the team, despite still being a teenager and she is top scorer for the hosts in Wuhan. Learning a lot from another crowd favorite in Xu Han, they are part of a huge and effective frontcourt rotation.
Meanwhile the guards have shown their teeth too, with both Shuyu Yang and Siyu Wang each handing out almost five assists per game.
