Qatar International Trading continued their unbeatable run in the 3rd PISQ-Hyatt Plaza Basketball Cup, as action once again resumed at the Hyatt Plaza courts was once again filled with basketball aficionados as the elimination round of the 3rd PISQ-Hyatt Plaza Basketball Cup resumed after taking a two-week break.
Rims were once again rocked as the Qatar International Trading staged their might to end-up as victors on their second assignment against the EMS-Hamad on game. QIT’s Fernando Veso served as the main man of his team to chip in a big 22 points and finally crushed EMS-Hamad’s line-up headed by team captain Jimmy Aguba. The QIT maintained a solid composure leading the EMS all game long with scores 21-17, 43-31, 64-52, and 91-83. The Ambassadors ,meanwhile, capitalised against the only six players of SECORP to register a win after losing on their first assignment. SECORP tried to come back on the second quarter from a 12-point deficit cutting it to only seven at the end of the first half 32-39. But D’ Ambassadors are but determined to put their team on the winning bracket ending up the game at the score of 72-84.
With the support and presence of team manager, Ben Keane, Mercury Engineering demolished Master Engineering on game one last Friday. The giant Aries Aldipollo lead his team’s offensive stunt and pocketed a solid 16 points against the Masters 20-8, 37-20, 52-40, and 72-62.
Defending champion McDonald’s, on the other hand, easily defeated Qatar Neon Flashers with only one of its twin towers playing, Donnie Reyes after Jojo Longalong was not allowed to play from a previous game violation.
Reyes, Coach of the Year Awardee last season, proved to be unstoppable inside the court after chipping in 26 points with the help from Ryan Metiong who set a record of eight steals against the Flashers. The game ended with scores at 83-65.
"Rock the Rim" 3rd PISQ Basketball Cup is a community activity of the Philippine International School Qatar for Overseas Filipino Workers and is highly-supported by the Hyatt Plaza. Games are being held every Thursday from 6-10 pm and every Friday from 5-11 pm.
