GUAYNABO (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) - Vaqueros de Bayamon and Caciques de Humacao will face off in the BSN preseason tournament final on Tuesday after beating Piratas de Quebradillas and Indios de de Mayagüez in the semi-finals respectively.

The final will take place at Coliseo Mario 'Quijote' Morales, with the game due to tip off at 20:00 local time (01:00 Wednesday CET).

In a rematch of the 2009 BSN finals, Vaqueros got the better of Piratas 83-75 in the first semi-final thanks to Christian Dalmau's 24 points. Franklin Western had 23.

Quebradillas were in the ascendancy in the first half, leading 17-15 after the opening period and up 34-31 at the break.

However, Western and Dalmau began scoring at will in the third quarter and Bayamon turned the game in their favour, outscoring their opponents 29-19 to edge in front 60-53 heading into the final frame, where they did enough to secure the win.

Walker Russell had 16 points while Joel Jones Camacho and Angel Alamo added 14 each for Piratas.

Meanwhile, Caciques de Humacao continued their impressive run by beating Indios de Mayagüez 85-81 in the second semi-final.

Humacao started the tournament with impressive wins over Santurce and Ponce to reach the last four and showed they were a side to be reckoned with once again on Monday.

William Orozco and Joel Nieves had 19 points each and spearheaded a second quarter surge that saw Caciques take a 45-36 halftime lead.

Mayagüez fought back after the break, getting within two, 56-54, late in the third period before Humacao took a 62-56 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Indios tied the game on two occasions in the final frame but Mayagüez held off, winning the game from the free-throw line.
