SANTURCE (BSN) - Cangrejeros have appointed Julio Toro as their new head coach ahead of the 2007 BSN league season.

Toro decided to return to the domestic scene in Puerto Rico after leaving the country’s national team following last year’s FIBA World Championship.

Since then he has been coaching at Guaiquiries in Venezuela, but according to his new boss all the contractual terms have been arranged and Toro will be unveiled next week.

"I’ve talked to Julio and solved all the differences in figures. The financial arrangement is set," club owner Angelo Medina told El Nuevo Dia newspaper.

"Julio is very motivated with this new challenge and wants to start the season at Cangrejeros beginning with pre-season training."

"Now, he only has to solve the contractual relationship in Venezuela next week," he added.

According to Medina, Toro will fly back to Venezuela on Tuesday, after a Monday meeting with him to discuss the players he needs for the upcoming season.

With 11 titles, Toro is the leading league-winner in BSN history.

At his previous spell with Cangrejeros, he led them to five BSN titles, including four in a row between 1998 and 2001 with the other coming in 2003.
