PUR - Soon-to-be free agent Barea ‘sure’ he'll play for Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN (FIBA Americas Championship) - Jose Barea will be a free agent after playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

While he isn't sure about the next step in his career, he does know one thing.

He’s certain that he'll be in Argentina to play for Puerto Rico at the FIBA Americas Championship.

"I hope to resolve the issue of being a free agent before the start of the tournament (FIBA Americas Championship)," the 26-year-old said.

"If that isn't the case, we will see.

"But I want to play.

"I am 100% sure that I will be in Argentina.

"My intention is to go back to Dallas, especially if we win the tournament.

"If it is with them, then I don´t see Dallas putting any barriers.

"In Dallas they know how important it is for me to play in the national team and how much it has benefitted my career."
