MADRID (ACB) - Puerto Rican international Peter John Ramos is crossing the Atlantic to play in Spain's ACB for Alta Gestión Fuenlabrada, the club has announced.
The 2.21m center recently helped Puerto Rico capture a silver medal at the Pan American Games and is expected to represent them at the FIBA Americas Championship as they attempt to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
Ramos, a second-round pick in the 2004 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards, appeared in only a handful of games as a rookie in 2004-05, and after being farmed out for a couple of seasons to the Roanoke Dazzle of the D-League, Washington released him last summer.
While in the US, he also played for the Idaho Stampede, another D-League side.
Ramos was waived in February by the Stampede and returned to Puerto Rico to play for his former club, the Caguas Creoles.
He joins a Fuenlabrada side that won 12 of its 26 games in 2006-07 to finish 12th in the 18-team league.
