    PUR - Puerto Rico names their team for the 2010 FIBA World Championship

    SAN JUAN (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Puerto Rico named their twelve players that will represent them in the 2010 FIBA World Championship to be played from August 28 until September 12 in Turkey. The list was announced after their friendly games in Argentina where they finished with a 2-2 record.

    The team will have the following players: Carlos Arroyo, José Juan Barea, Filiberto Rivera, Christian Dalmau, Larry Ayuso, Carmelo Lee, Ángel Daniel Vassallo, Ricky Sánchez, Nathan Peavy, Renaldo Balkman, Peter John Ramos and Daniel Santiago.

    The finalists already made their trip to New York where they will be part of the Nike World Basketball Festival. They are scheduled to have a scrimmage against Brazil on Friday at 12:00 pm. Then on Sunday they play China in Madison Square Garden at 3:30 pm.

    After the games in New York they depart to Germany where they play against the host on August 20 and 22. After their trip to Germany they take off for Turkey where they are part of Group C along with China, Ivory Coast, Greece, Russia and Turkey.

    Puerto Rico won the Silver medal in the 2009 FIBA-Americas Championship held in San Juan and they expect to have a better performance than their last FIBA World Championship in 2006 where they were eliminated in the first round.
