This game was held as part of this weekend’s SNB All-Star Game festivities in the city of Mayagüez. This was the perfect opportunity for the coaching staff to watch in action some of the new players currently trying to win a spot on the men’s National team.
Puerto Rico’s Rick Apodaca was the game-best with 34 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds; he was also named the game’s MVP. Peter John Ramos finished the game with 14 points. Nigeria’s National team member, Gabriel Mouneke, was the best for the imports with 17 points.
Another player from Puerto Rico’s National team, Larry Ayuso, who was also active in the game, won the Three-point Challenge.
This exhibition game was the beginning of the national team’s practice schedule on their way to their next competitions in Rio de Janeiro (Pan-American Games), and in Las Vegas (FIBA Americas Championship 2007), on July and August, respectively.
