SAN JUAN (FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women) – The draw for the FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women was held at the FIBA Americas offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The eight countries that will participate in this tournament were divided into two groups of four teams each.
The draw was hosted by FIBA Americas Technical Director, Mr. Anibal Garcia and Ms. Carol Callan from USA Basketball was on the telephone line.

Group A: Canada, Chile, Costa Rica and Mexico.
Group B: Argentina, Brazil, Puerto Rico and the United States.

Competition system
Preliminary round play will be held June 23-25, and each team will play the other three teams in its preliminary group. The top two teams in each preliminary round group will then advance to the Saturday, June 26, medal round semifinals and play for 1st-4th places. Teams placed third and fourth in each preliminary round group will advance to the consolation semifinals and play for 5th-8th places. The FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women gold and bronze medal games, and the 5th/6th place and 7th/8th place games, will be conducted on Sunday, June 27. The top four teams qualify for the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women.
