ARECIBO (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) - Capitanes de Arecibo edged out Piratas de Quebradillas 97-92 to reach the BSN finals in Puerto Rico.

Capitanes won their best-of-seven games semi-final 4-3 and will face defending champion Vaqueros de Bayamon - who beat Cangrejeros de Santurce 4-2 - in the finals which start on Sunday.

Larry Ayuso scored a game-high 26 points while Danilo Pinnock added 23 and Guillermo Díaz finished with 21 for Capitanes, who won the title in 2008.

They started the game with a 16-4 run, but Piratas recovered from their slow start to get within 20-16 by the end of the first quarter.

Capitanes used of some great depth and effective defense to lead 43-36 at the break. They were also well helped by the scoring punch provided by Pinnock and Ayuso who accounted for 22 first-half points between them.

Piratas made a run in the third quarter and went in front 53-50 on three-pointers by CJ Bruton and David Huertas. They took a 63-62 advantage into the final frame.

Arecibo took and made some good shots from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter. The same could not be said of Quebradillas who kept shooting but with less success than in the third period.

Diaz's scoring punch and some clutch baskets by Pinnock sealed the win.

Shawn Redhage had 24 points and Jonathan Garcia 19 to pace Piratas.
