CAGUAS (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) - Cangrejeros de Santurce and Atléticos de San Germán got back to winning ways after the BSN All-Star Break.
Santurce dominated Vaqueros de Bayamón 86-71 to improve their record at 8-8. The loss saw second place Vaqueros drop to 12-5.
Cangrejeros got off to a great start, taking a 28-14 lead at the end of the opening period and Vaqueros rarely threatened as their offense was inconsistent at best for much of the game.
Wilfredo Pagan had 26 points and Mike Sweetney added 13 for Santurce, who were up 48-36 at the break and took a 68-48 cushion into the final frame. Christian Dalmau led all scorers with 28, but it wasn't enough to avoid a heavy defeat.
Meanwhile, Atléticos de San Germán outlasted Caciques de Humacao 80-74 as Mario Austin had 27 points and Leroy Hickerson 20. James Mays scored 15 points and Kleon Penn 11 for Caciques. Miguel Ali Berdiel sat out because of injury.
On Thursday, Piratas de Quebradillas visit Indios de Mayagüez and Capitanes de Arecibo face Gallitos de Isabela.
