    MIAMI (United States) – The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers Window 3 is about to get underway, with all 16 teams still in the race for a place at Qatar 2027. With all First Round results carrying over to the Second Round and every game potentially proving decisive in the quest to qualify for the World Cup, there is little room for error. On Thursday, July 2, Group D takes center stage. Panama will look to defeat Cuba and clinch a Second Round berth, while Uruguay and Argentina, both already qualified, will face off for first place in the group.

    URU vs. ARG

    • The first three meetings between Uruguay and Argentina in the World Cup Qualifiers have all been won by the team playing away from home; indeed, Uruguay have suffered their heaviest home defeat in the competition against Argentina, 58-102 in July 2018.

    • Uruguay have won their first four games in the World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, their best winning run in the competition.

    • Argentina have scored 100+ points in two of their last three games in the World Cup Qualifiers, as often as in their previous 25 games in the competition.

    • Joaquin Rodriguez has averaged 22.7 points per game in his last three appearances at the World Cup Qualifiers after averaging 6.3 points per game in his previous 18 appearances in the competition.

    • Argentina’s Facundo Campazzo has had four games with 10 or more assists in the World Cup Qualifiers, while no other players in the Americas have done it more than twice.

    • Panama have only won two of their last 11 games played in the World Cup Qualifiers, but those two games were played at home, including one against Cuba last February (84-81).

    • Cuba are still looking for their first win in the World Cup Qualifiers, losing their previous 16 by an average margin of 17.4 points; they have scored fewer than 70 points in six of their last seven games.

    • Ernesto Oglivie has scored in double figures in all his last 12 games for Panama in the World Cup Qualifiers. Oglivie has had five double-doubles in the Qualifiers, the joint-most among all players in the Americas.

    • Pedro Bombino (Cuba) had at least 12 points and 7 rebounds in each of his three games in the World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
