Germany vs Finland - September 12, 16:00 CET
The plot continues to thicken as the Finnish fairytale enters another chapter, this time against a big, bad German wolf. No one expected Lauri Markkanen and co to come this far but here they are, in the battle for podium itself. It's history for Finland with their first-ever Semi-Finals appearance and they are looking to make the best of it.
But on the other side stands the tournament favorite, at least after Serbia was eliminated. Everyone put Germany on the podium in their predictions and the world champs have been determined to prove them right. A supersonic offensive machine dominated for six games and then survived a tough battle with Luka Doncic and Slovenia.
Finland achieved their dream by beating Georgia and now want to rewrite history. However, Finland themselves know how tough it is against world champs as these two teams clashed before in the Group Stage with Germany claiming an easy 91-61 in Tampere.
Could it be any different now or will Germany's well-oiled machine prove too much again for Susijengi?
What are they saying?
"I don't think the first game matters at all. We had similar situation at the Olympics last year against France. We know Finland have that game on their minds, they're coming out for revenge. It's a big game for both of us but we have two more wins to go" - Daniel Theis, Germany
"I’m extremely excited to play knockout games with this group. It has been fun and it’s going to be fun on Friday. We’re taking it step by step" - Lassi Tuovi, Finland
Did you know?
This will be Germany’s fifth appearance in a EuroBasket Semi-Finals, but they have reached this stage in back-to-back events for the first time.
This will be the first EuroBasket Semi-Final game to see two coaches younger than 50 year old facing each other since 2007.
Finland have scored more than 90 points in four games at the EuroBasket 2025, as many times as in their previous six EuroBasket tournaments combined.
