GENEVA (FIBA) - Today, the Permanent Committee - as established by the agreement between FIBA Europe and ULEB - composed of Mr. Patrick Baumann, Chair, Mr. Borislav Stankovic, Mr. George Vassilakopoulos, Mr. Nar Zanolin, Mr. Eduardo Portela and Mr. Jordi Bertomeu met in Geneva to discuss the new realities created by ULEB's recent actions in European Club Competitions.
The parties agreed that for the season 2007-2008 the current situation must be accepted and that for the sake of unity in European basketball some concepts in the agreement between FIBA Europe and ULEB need to be discussed and revised for the seasons thereafter.
A timeline for further discussions and resolutions has been recommended by FIBA to the parties and the Permanent Committee is expected to re-convene after the summer break and the completion of the upcoming European national team competitions.
