MIES, Switzerland (2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup) - The first tickets for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup went on sale Tuesday on http://www.fiba.basketball/pages/eng/fe/14/wcm/tickets/p/tickets.html.
While teams all over the world are preparing and warming up their engines for the 2013 FIBA Zone Championships, fans can already look ahead and secure their places for FIBA’s flagship competition, which will take place in Spain from 30 August to 14 September 2014. Even if their favourite teams have not yet qualified, fans can pre-purchase the 'Follow Your Team' passes, which will enable them to witness live all the games of their selected team in Spain next year.
Introduced for the first time on the occasion of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the 'Follow Your Team' passes represent the perfect ticket option for travelling fans to support their teams throughout the tournament, while also discovering the many delights that Spain has to offer.
Fans can already purchase an Option for the 'Follow Your Team' pass for the team of their choice, even if their team has not qualified yet. Spain and USA are the only two teams already qualified for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The remaining 22 national sides to complete the field of the 24-team tournament will gradually be known from August 2013 to 24th November 2013.
Here are the two ‘Follow Your Team’ passes currently on sale, with a starting price of €27 per game:
• The 'Follow Your Team - Preliminary Round Pass' grants its holder access to the five Preliminary Round games of his/her chosen team.
• The 'Follow Your Team - All Rounds Pass' allows its holder to attend all the games of his/her chosen team throughout the entire 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, from the Preliminary Round all the way to the Final Round.
A 10% discount on the official retail price of both types of 'Follow Your Team' passes will be granted if the Option is purchased before the chosen team is officially qualified.
Options for the 'Follow Your Team' passes for the Final Round will be available for sale as of October 2013. Between February and June 2014, the following three remaining ticket categories will go on sale:
• Venue Pass: On sale immediately after the draw in February 2014
• Day Pass: On sale from June 2014
• Session tickets: On sale from July 2014

About the FIBA Basketball World Cup
The first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place in 2014 in Spain.
The USA and Spain are already qualified, with the 22 remaining teams to be determined between August and 24 November 2013.
The Preliminary Round will be played from Saturday 30 August to Thursday 4 September in Bilbao, Seville, Granada and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Final Round will be hosted in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona and in the Palacio de los Deportes of Madrid from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 September.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup, known from 1950 until 2010 as the FIBA World Championship, is the flagship event of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The winners of the FIBA Basketball World Cup get to celebrate their crowning moment by holding aloft the Naismith Trophy, named after the inventor of basketball, Dr James Naismith.
