Few basketball experts expect Portugal to win a game at the FIBA Europe Championship in Spain where they are preparing to take on world champions Spain, Croatia and Latvia. Then again, few experts predicted they would top their qualifying group last year. Coach Valentyn Melnychuk, who steered Portugal into finals for the first time in more than 50 years, spoke to FIBA’s Jeff Taylor 24 hours before his team’s opener against Spain.
