LIEPAJA/VALMIERA (FIBA U19 World Championship) - Poland and Serbia got off to perfect starts to the FIBA U19 World Championship in Latvia with wins over Tunisia and China, allowing them to already have an eye on the next round.

In group A, Poland comfortably overcame last year's African runners up 85-57 thanks to double digit scores from guard combo Michal Michalak and Mateusz Ponitka as well as big man Przemislav Karnowski.

Things were tighter in group D, where China - led in the first quarter by an almost spotless Guo Ailun -  looked to more likely win until Serbia's Aleksandar Cvetkovic moved up a gear, carrying his team to a 78-73 point victory thanks to a team high 20 points.
