WARSAW (EuroBasket 2011) - Poland have turned their national side over to the former Slovenia coach Ales Pipan.

The federation, looking for an experienced coach in international competition, have found one in Pipan, the man who guided his native Slovenians into the FIBA World Championship for the first time five years ago.

He is well known in Poland, where he coached Anwil Wloclawek.

“I think that Poland has a lot of good players, players with international experience,” he said.

“There is enough time to get together and prepare for the EuroBasket.

“It will not be easy, a lot of work is ahead of us, but if everyone will share my philosophy, I am hopeful.”

Poland will play in Group A of the EuroBasket against defending champions Spain, Turkey, hosts Lithuania, Great Britain and one of the two sides that makes it through the Additional Qualifying Round.
