JAKARTA (SEABA Championship/FIBA Asia Championship) - Favourites Philippines scored the first 11 points of the game and had nothing to worry thereafter as they cruised to an 89-50 win in the Final of the SEABA Championship against Indonesia on Sunday.

Mark Barocca’s 17 points was the highest for the Philippines, but then that was only on top of an all-round attack.

Marcus Douthit had 16 points and Chris Tiu 13 points, both also pulling down seven rebounds each.

“We again came out strong and hardly gave them a chance to make a run,” said Philippines head coach Rajko Toroman.

“We shot bad in the second quarter but we didn’t let them score for more than seven minutes in the third.”

“It was the same story: We stopped their penetrations while playing aggressive in offense,” said Toroman.

Rony Gunawan had 14 points to lead Indonesia, who never recovered from that early Philippine assault.

Courtesy of finishing in the tournament's top three, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia qualified as SEABA representatives for the FIBA Asia Championship that will take place in Wuhan, China between 15 and 25 September.
