GDYNIA (Poland) - It could've been the Netherlands, but since they lost their game to Austria, it turned out Poland became the first team from Group F to reach the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers Second Round.

A successful double over Latvia pointed the nation a step closer to another World Cup qualification. They had defeated them 84-82 on Friday, and followed it up with a more convincing 92-72 win on Sunday.

They were one of the feel good stories in 2019, reaching the Quarter-Finals at the World Cup in China, but missed the last event in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
