BEIRUT (Lebanon) - FIBA Regional Office Asia conducted an online workshop about basketball photography on Thursday, May 7, 2020, which was well-attended by interested photographers from all over the globe.
The workshop had 216 participants (max concurrent 182) from 46 countries worldwide, including attendees from Europe and Africa.

"I wish you all good luck for the workshop – I want to see you around during our championships more often," Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Executive Director - Asia said as he greeted the participants before the workshop. "We hope you will assist us in promoting our sport worldwide."
"You {the photographers}, the back-office, administrators, coaches, players, even the floor sweepers, and the ball boys, are all part of the team that builds up the image of our sport. We encourage you to showcase the positive images coming out of basketball - things like fair-play, passion, emotion, and pride.
"My message to you today is that we, at FIBA, always look at the bright side of what’s happening, and this is what we would like you to produce”

The panelists of the workshop went deep into detail about the FIBA standards of basketball photography with the participants. A wide range of topics was covered from the importance of photos through how to operate pre-game, in-game, and post-game.
A lengthy Questions & Answer session was held in between each segment of the workshop where items from the participants were addressed. Even though the workshop was held online via Zoom, the participants had the opportunity to engage with the panelists, which they took the advantage to do so enthusiastically.

The Regional Office has been committed to developing new basketball photographers across Asia to increase the pool of photographers and improve the quality of photos in the region. This online workshop is a continuation of those commitments, following the on-site workshops in Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq over the past two years.
